New kid blues
Jan. 3rd, 2023 12:10 pmThe move had been stressful for Boober. Of course, most things were, but this... Starting at a new school without his friends? It was a lot to deal with. He'd wished for some space from his tightknit group in the past, but each day he walked through the front doors of Canterlot High School he wished they'd be their to greet him. Sure, he liked his quiet, but it had become just plain lonely after a couple of days. And making new friends was a rather intimidating thing. But this latest class project had come with assigned partners, so at least this would give him someone to talk to. Even if, despite her being in his class, he somehow had no idea who Fluttershy was...
Mistletoe musings
Dec. 2nd, 2022 05:14 pm"I can't take you anywhere, can I?"
Traveler's only response to Boober's remark was a wagging tail. As always, the Hisuian Growlithe was blissfully unaware of the trouble she caused. Boober sighed. At least she was sticking by his side now. For now. The damage was already done, though, because Boober had lost track of Riz when Traveler ran off. It was easy to get separated in Goldenrod this time of year even without a playful pup. The place was bustling, especially with shoppers, and Boober was already worrying that he wouldn't be able to find Riz again...
But, for once, Traveler's friendliness proved a blessing. When she bolted again, it was over to the other familiar face in the crowd, barking joyously. Boober's relieved smile faded some as he followed her, though, because there was something above him, hanging down from one of the city's decorative seasonal pieces. It was a little sprig of plantlife. Mistletoe. Riz had touched on that, albeit vaguely, while explaining some of the winter holidays to him. Boober's understanding was there was a rule for this plant.
"...Oh. Hi, Riz."

A bird screeched overhead, and Boober - already feeling weak from panic and hunger - curled up where he sat beneath a tree. He really shouldn't have come up here, he'd never wanted to do this whole thing... Sure, most Fraggles surfaced at some point before coming of age, to awaken the full extent of their magic. But he'd never cared about that! He'd let his friends talk him into it, and now he regretted it.
He didn't know what was safe up here! What could he eat, what would hurt him and what wouldn't...? He was scared to make a sound with those large birds flying around, but he couldn't help a whimper as he shuddered.
