Grab Bag Meme!

- Post your character(s) with their name and canon in the subject line, and include any preferences you have!
- Tag others using one of the prompts, or combining a few! You can use RNG to pick, if you prefer it that way.
- Have fun! This is a sort of... a remix of prompts from other memes, chosen and rewritten for wide applicability. I'm trying it out, we'll see how it goes!
1. Festivities: Time to celebrate something special! Is it a birthday, a holiday, or a some other big event?
2. Roadtrip: Maybe you're first setting off on the trip, maybe it feels like you've been in this vehicle for years by now, or maybe you're taking a break at a rest-stop. Make sure you don't get lost!
3. Leap Into Action: This is the prompt for sports competitions, epic battles, training montages in text form... You know, getting active!
4. Bad Weather: Buckets of rain, high winds, snow storms! Any of these (or worse) can leave you stuck without power, out in the elements, desperately needing warmth... Or just cozily inside, where it's safe.
5. Sick Day: Or hurt day. Either way, it's time for some physical hurt/comfort, assuming you're willing to accept that you're not feeling well and need care!
6. Beach Episode: Time for sun and surf! Or a dip in the pool, or a trip to lake... Just anywhere you can go swimming, even if you're not planning to get in the water.
7. Maritime Law: On the other hand, if you want to guarantee that you get in the water-- What better way than a boat? Are fighting scurvy as a pirate, or living the high life with guests on your private yacht?
8. Confrontation: It's time to face something you rather not, but at least you're not alone. You've got someone to help you through your sadness, anger, or fear. Assuming they're not the source of it, that is.
9. All Night Long: A sleepover party, struggling with insomnia, waking up from nightmares-- Or this can be used to thread some smut, if that's your fancy. Just mark the thread, please!
10. School Days: Are you a student, learning while navigating social situations and maybe taking on an extra-circular or two? Or a teacher just trying to get the kids to pay attention until you can head to the teachers' lounge for your third cup of coffee? Are you a parent meeting with a teacher to discuss your child's academic performance, or are you partying in college forms? Don't forgot to try and have some fun!
11. Date Night: From your first date to your twentieth wedding anniversary and anything in-between, here's your stop for any general fluff needs.
12. Reunion: You're seeing someone for the first time in a long time! But are you happy to reconnect, or have you been dreading this? Or maybe you didn't plan this reunion at all and you're taken completely by surprise!
13. Nice To Meet You: On the other end of the spectrum, this is your first time encountering this person. Maybe it's just like any other first meeting - at least at first glance - but this could be someone who is so vastly different from you that you two could easily never meet.
14. Wildcard: You know the drill!

Fabian Seacaster | Dimension 20: Fantasy High
Spoilers for all of Junior year. Just everywhere.
(but most likely not)
For now though, they've been granted a rare period of rest after a long, long junior year that was far more gruelling than any school year has a right to be. They've all made it, passing the year with marks that would make any parent sit up with pride. Okay, technically, Fig dropped out before passing, but Riz tries not to think too hard about that. If he does, the thought of Fig not being there next year when they start their final year at Aguefort makes his stomach drop and squirm, and the tea he has been putting in it doesn't help.
Gods, tea is gross.
Riz isn't entirely sure why he and Fabian had decided to meet up on the bleachers outside of the Bloodrush field -- or, what was formerly the Bloodrush field and is now just a pretty massive hole where Gorgug had brought the Hangman down for a landing. Just behind it, he can see the carefully cordoned off area that was once the Aguefort Gym and is now just kind of a big lava pit, with sections of floor and rock still precariously hanging over it. Maybe they are here to gaze out with pride over the place where they had very recently saved the world, stopped the deification of Porter --Fuck, Riz seriously still can't believe he hadn't picked up on his evil nature sooner-- and in the process had managed to revive and reunite two goddess.
Or maybe they are here because Fabian doesn't seem all that thrilled to be home now that his mother and Gilear are back.
Clambering up the bleachers, Riz keeps moving until he can join the figure at the top row. Fabian is artfully draped across the benches in a graceful way that Riz could never hope to achieve, not in a million years, so instead, he just sits crosslegged on the bench besides him, facing him, setting down his massive tumbler of tea --unfortunately, no matter how much of the stuff he seems to drink, it never gets any better. Or gets rid of the ever present low-grade headache he has had since he stopped drinking coffee-- in-between the two of them.
"Hey man."
It'll be good to catch up. It's not like they hadn't seen each other at all during the year, but they had all been so insanely busy, that there had been little time to just hang out and jam as the kids say. No best friend sleepovers, not when Riz was always, somehow, expected to be at yet another club meeting.

And he misses the other Bad Kids. Sure, he saw them plenty over the year, but it was always for something! They were never just being together as friends, the closest thing had been Owl Bears practice, and even that was just Gorgug and Riz. Now Gorgug had dropped the team, and he gets it, okay? Fabian gets it, and he's glad Gorgug is doing what he actually wants, but it sucks too.
And it's great Riz is still there, but Fabian worries Gorthalax will see fit to put some freshman in his position and put Riz on the bench next year. It's not like Fig will be right on hand to talk her dad out of it. And the truth is, he'd get that too, because while Riz pulled off nothing short of a miracle... He's Riz. Fantastic at a lot of things, but not Bloodrush. So yeah, it would be fair enough, but it still sucks.
(Just like it sucks that the field still looks like this because of his own house, but he can't think too much about that, because thinking about home makes him a little queasy these days.)
But he's Fabian Aramais Seacaster, and his father Bill Seacaster would choose him over every mark he's left on this world, and any beyond it! He's not giving up, and damnit, if he was able to help Riz improve his form while wielding a sword, he can help him be a star player of the Owl Bears, consistently. So, that's exactly what he's going to do.
Thus, meeting Riz here of all places. Sure, Bloodrush field can't exactly be called a field right now, but it's still the location of Riz's Owl Bears triumphs! How could he not be inspired if they meet here?
Hell, Fabian's inspired himself, and it has him wearing a genuine grin - with just enough pride in his plan added to come off as a smirk - when Riz shows up. It's not just the inspiration, though. After all, this will do more than ensure future time to hang out, it's hanging out now as well! He's very pleased with himself for the whole thing.
"I'm not all that used to beating you to a meet up," Fabian says in greeting as he sits up, clapping a hand on Riz's shoulder. It's not like he was kept waiting - or rather, he was, but because he got here early in his enthusiasm. That same enthusiasm is present in his tone and expression as he addresses Riz, alongside a teasing tone as he does what he considers his right and his duty as a best friend: Gives Riz a hard time. "How is it you look better and like absolute shit at the same time, The Ball?"
It's not that Fabian doesn't know the lack of coffee is behind each, but how do they coexist?

Riz huffs, though really, it's just for show. He doesn't mind getting ribbed by any of the bad kids that much --especially once he had figured out that for them, it really was a friendship thing and not just hidden bullying-- and with how busy they had been, and how serious things had gotten towards the end of the year, he really feels like he hadn't gotten enough of it.
"Don't make me report you to Jawbone for not supporting my self-care journey."

"You've got quite a body count of specifically dragons at this point, you know. Maybe instead of killing the next one, you can train it to answer to you as a steed." He closes his eye and smirks. "I'd say that getting around more easily, not to mention looking sick as hell while doing it, would be an even better step on your self-care journey."
no subject
Fabian is not wrong when he says that riding around on a dragon would be sick as hell. And, if nothing else, it has got to be safer than going up in one of Sprak's death machines, something which Riz had to do a few times too many this year. How they hadn't crashed in a fiery ball of death was a mystery truly worth of Cassandra's attention.
But there are just very practical concerns here.
"Where would I even keep a dragon, dude? I'm pretty sure Strongtower has a no pet policy."
no subject
He's joking, of course he's joking. He had not been on board with the others' adrenaline-fueled insanity about moving in with him for the commute, and he'd be no more on board for any other reason. Even if it would be nice to have more people there who he welcomes the presence of. Who knows if Cathlida will be able to stay for long? Pirates aren't exactly known for staying well-behaved, even in the most forgiving sense of the term. And if she does have to leave again, even just for a little while...
Fabian's hands tense into fists behind his head, and in an instant he rocks forward and jumps to his feet. "Anyway, since you did make it here - eventually, at least - let's get to work!"
With all the dramatic flair and poise he'd use to point his rapier in an especially showy moment, he points a finger at the crater that remains of the Bloodrush field.
"What do you think of when you look out from here, The Ball?"
no subject
So, somewhat confused, he gazes out over the Area Formerly Known As The Bloodrush field. What does he think when seeing this?
"I guess... that it's good that Gorgug managed to put your house down where he did. I mean, do you think we would've gotten expelled if we had crashed your house into the school?"
no subject
Well, then.
Fabian had not accounted for Riz simply... Not getting it. He is caught entirely by surprise, and it leaves him speechless for a few moments. He just can't understand Riz sometimes! Sometimes, it feels like he's really started to, too. Maybe even more than the other Bad Kids!
Fabian pays more attention to others than he's often assumed to, he realized that easily when the others didn't know their gifts came from him back in freshman year. And it always made sense to pay attention to what Riz pays attention to. He always knows what's going on, and has a plan ready! Maybe it had started with Fabian having hopes of establishing himself as the leader of the party, but by now, he couldn't care less about that-- But he stills pay attention, and at some point, it went from paying attention like Riz to also paying attention to Riz.
Fabian feels a thrill every time he looks at the Bloodrush field - even now that it looks like this - or thinks about the Owl Bears, or even just hears a "Hoot! Growl!". He knows he and Riz are very different, despite being best friends, but this difference throws him off. It's discouraging, it's...
It's got to be the tea. Riz has been so off without his coffee, after all.
Alright, Fabian breathes in slowly, works a smile back to his face. Tries to be patient as he gives this another go.
"Don't worry about that; Aguefort wouldn't expel us after our triumph in the gymnasium! But think about triumphs that happened out here, The Ball."
no subject
Cause that is the only triumph Riz can really think about happening out there. Sure, technically he had been involved in a few blood rush matches that had been won out on that field, but Riz didn't really count them as triumphs. More like near death experiences that he had somehow, by the skin of his fangs, managed to live through.
